College Applications

Prior to submitting applications, Jill works with students to build an application strategy. The process is broken into smaller, manageable deliverables so that students feel confident that no detail has been overlooked. Jill will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of early action and early decision options, the potential for merit aid, and review all requirements and deadlines. Applications will be reviewed prior to submission to ensure they are complete.

Essay Development

A strong essay is the hallmark of a successful college application. Jill guides students through the essay process, from evaluating prompts and brainstorming topics to final editing.

Standardized Test Review

Testing options, timelines and benefits are identified and evaluated. This includes SAT vs. ACT, SAT subject tests, PSAT for younger students, AP and IB tests. Jill does not provide test prep but can recommend resources for test prep that are comprehensive and affordable.

College Visits

Visiting campuses is a great way to understand if a school is a good fit. Jill O’Keefe provides tips for a successful college visit, guidelines for productive interviews, and pointers on how to conduct meetings with school officials.

Evaluation of College Offers

While receiving the “big envelopes” is exciting, it can also be confusing. With the acceptance letters in hand, Jill will help the student evaluate each school and its offer and advise on how to proceed, but only after a big congratulations!
